As a teenager at school, music and playing guitar became my main interest. Started up some few bands and the most serious and ambitious was TRASH. I was composing music and lyrics for almost every song and TRASH did many gigs at the time. It was a fantastic time with many wild experiences.
I remember once we played a gig at a hotel and our bombs and firework during the show started a fire at the hotel. People were clapping their hands and shouting for more smoke as nobody could see a thing.. At the last show we did, King Diamond and Hank Shermann showed up to check out our performance. Short after Hank was on the phone asking if me and bass player would like to join Mercyful Fate. As I knew Hank throughout the Brats days and he was such a big inspiration to me, the choice was not hard.
Michael Andersen was just in MF for two rehearsals as Timi Grabber regret his departure and came back in. After some few weeks of rehearsing the band was not quite satisfied with existing drummer Ole Fausing. I convinced the guys that Kim Ruzz was the right man behind the drums and after a shot test my old drummer through the days of TRASH was in the band and the lineup with King, Hank, Timi, Kim and me was complete. Next thing Kim Ruzz and me found excitement to introduce to Mercyful Fate one of the latest songs I wrote for TRASH “The strangler”.
I remember in the rehearse room King commenting on the obvious excitement from Kim, discovering and remembering the cool drumparts as we run through the introducing of the song. King wrote new lyrics and the new title of the song was “Burning the Cross”. A few of you guys may know that one. I remained in the band for maybe a little less than a year, don’t remember quite for how long. We had some disagreements, basically misunderstandings and because of pride, being young and foolish and unspiritual, I left the band.
